Katy and Dave knew exactly what they wanted for their day. The dress code was formal, but the vibes were far from it. A day bathed in the sun by the seaside. Bright colours, tuxedos, white roses and palm fronds. Cocktails and oysters on the lawn. Champagne flowing, long tables and share platters on a balmy summer evening by the water. The perfect combination of casual but organised. 

Traditionally, most brides take their husband's last names... not Katy! When we met up before their day, we were talking about the upcoming name change. Katy and Dave had decided to combine parts of both or their surnames and come up with the brand new surname. Katy said to me "I was never going to take any mans' last name" (you go girl!).

I'm sure it was no surprise to their guests that Katy didn't just do a speech... she performed a rap song. And by performed a rap song I mean she wrote, rapped and grooved to her own entirely new version of 'What a Man' - all about Dave. Not to be outdone... Dave had something special up his sleeve…

Flashback to when Katy and Dave had been dating for a year...

Katy surprised Dave with a guitar for his birthday, but not just any guitar. It was the same type of guitar that Will Ferrell played in Dave's favourite movie 'Stranger Than Fiction'. Months and years went by, and Katy hadn't noticed any guitar playing... It became a little bit of a running joke between Katy and Dave, about how Dave had never picked up the guitar or learnt how to play it.

Now back at the reception... 

Dave was wrapping up his speech, and his groomsmen appear with some instruments... they hand Dave his guitar. Dave and his groomsmen then go on to perform a cover of 'Stand By Me'. Little did Katy know, Dave had planned to blow her socks off on their wedding day and had secretly been learning how to play his guitar. I think Katy's face says it all. She was so shocked and but also so proud of him.

Katy and Dave took the gamble with their dream of an outdoor dance floor, and boy did it pay off. They had a roaming sax player who had everyone partying like their life depended on it.

Katy & Dave are full of so much life. They are bold, creative and have this kind of 'grab life by the balls' attitude. They love hard and play harder, and I love that.

Lani & Dan’s Wedding - Enzo Weddings at Ironbark Hill - Hunter Valley

 

I expected to arrive to torrential rain at Lani and Dan's Enzo wedding. I can remember this day so clearly, it was flogging down rain on the coast but luckily for us, the rain system never made it's way up the valley. It looked as though it could have poured at any moment, we were surrounded by dark clouds. It was almost like Pokolbin was in its own little world, sheltered from the rain.

Lani and her girls got ready at Corunna Station Homestead. The Homestead is amazing, it's like something you'd see in 'Country Style' magazine or on my Pinterest board under 'Dream House'. So, if you like country style farmhouses, your eyes are in for a treat.

Dan and the boys entered the ceremony to their own song. Can you imagine, busting through the chapel doors to Fatboy Slim's - Right Here, Right Now, blaring as loud as your Grandma can handle. Something that I love about Enzo is that just like the girls, they make sure the boys get their moment too. Having the boys enter to their own song broke the ice in the room and had everyone smiling and cheering before the ceremony began.

Lani and Dan's sweet Hungarian Vizsla Réka made an appearance, stopping by for a few quick photos with Mum and Dad. She was pretty keen on sniffing out the kangaroo poo, but we managed to squeeze a few shots in between sniffs.

I feel like I have never laughed so hard in my life than when I was spending time with Lani, Dan and their wedding party. I wish I could tell you what we were laughing about, but it was so hilariously inappropriate.

Alissa & Liam’s Wedding - Tocal Homestead - Hunter Valley

 
 

It doesn’t matter how many weddings I photograph at Tocal Homestead, it just never gets old. It’s one of my all time favourite venues.

Alissa and Liam were married at Tocal Homestead on a sweltering November day. The air that day was so thick with smoke from the summer bushfires, and there was next to no wind. I can't even imagine how uncomfortable both Alissa and Liam would have been with Alissa in a big dress with so many layers, and of course, Liam in his suit. But not once did I hear them complain, and they didn't let the weather conditions impact the vibe of their day.

One of the moments from their day that I remember so vividly was when I arrived to start photographing the girls. Alissa was sitting with her Dad, just talking. This might not sound like a big deal. But I've never walked in to start shooting, and everyone is ready and so relaxed. Or with enough time that the bride even has a spare minute to sit and connect with her Dad. It was really so special.

Once Alissa was dressed, she nervously waited for her Dad to come up the stairs to see her. This moment unfolded so naturally. And so unhurried. It was as if time stopped when they embraced. I am quite sure Alissa will cherish this moment with her parents forever, and I am so grateful I was there to capture it!

This moment happened because there was space in the day for it to happen. By inviting space in your day, it gives you time to spend with family, to talk and to mingle. Time to slow down and take it all in and be present! 

This is where the magic happens!

You can imagine if Alissa was rushing to finish her hair and makeup, rushing to get dressed or rushing to get out the door to the ceremony, this moment would not have been able to take place.

When I first met Alissa and Liam at their engagement session, Liam told me how much it would mean to him to be able to get some cows in the background of some of their photos. (Liam is a soon to be qualified Vet with a small business breeding Angus Cattle, so cows are his passion!). I said I would see what I can do ha! You could imagine how excited they were as I lead them out to the paddock right on sunset, only to find that all of Tocal's cows were perfectly positioned in the paddock. It was almost as though the cows knew this was a big deal. I am sure Alissa and Liam felt like they were the only two in the whole world when we danced around in that paddock as the sunset.

I just admire Liam and Alissa so much. Their love for each other is so special. They simply adore each other, and it shows in the way they look at each other when no one else is watching. Their wedding day was so focused on their love for each other, their supportive parents and the beautiful relationships they share with their friends and extended family.

I knew almost instantly that this day was going to be a cracker.

The Stables of Somersby was the ultimate choice for Jordan and Matt's wedding. Preparations, ceremony, photos and reception all in the one place. (This is the secret to a stress-free day with the best vibes!). An absolute dream to shoot at, a beautiful rustic barn with accommodation upstairs. Perfect for a little spy on your guests as they arrive at the ceremony! No need for travel meant there was plenty of time to catch up with all of their favourite people.

Let me paint the picture for you - A huge sweet and savoury buffet table (Can you tell I'm easily won over with food haha). A drinks van combined and an espresso martini bike, serving as many drinks as you could handle. And a band that quite literally had every soul up dancing like their life depended on it. Then throw in a few vows and a some happy tears... Matt's reaction to Jordan walking down the aisle might just be every girl's dream come true!

All of their guests gathered together. They listened to the speeches so intently and hanging onto every word. They teared up at all the emotional bits, and roared and cheered at all the good bits. Tales of Jordan's alter ego Patricia (who I've heard loves dancing on tables), and how Matt and Jordan met way back in year 7 in High School. Jordan's passion for Aldi and Matt's passion for cats gave everyone a good laugh. And how the first time Matt's sister was introduced to Jordan, she was up singing "I Touch Myself" at Karaoke night at Wangi Pub! What a first impression!

Matt and Jordan, you are incredible. Thank you for all the laughs and the invite to the party of the year!

JESS AND TONE’S TOCAL HOMESTEAD WEDDING - HUNTER VALLEY

There was something extra special about this day. Maybe it was the overwhelming anticipation of FINALLY being legally recognised to marry after so many years together.

Tocal Homestead was the perfect choice for Jess & Tone’s day. Away from the hustle of Sydney where they live and work. A place to be relaxed with guests surrounded by the beauty of the countryside. Jess's dad pointed out that the theme of Tocal Homestead was all Tone. And that if Jess had her way it would have been at the Blacktown RSL ha!

Jess & Tone's bridesmaids (yes, all 10 of them!) were given a colour brief to choose from for their gowns. The wedding day was the first time they had put them all on together and DAMN! Don't they look incredible!

Tone told a story in her speech about a friend who once commented that they look at each other like their relationship is still new. Like they are as obsessed with each other as though they have just started dating. I could see how much love and respect they have for each other by the way they looked at each other when no one else was looking. They are each other's number one, best friends and ultimate cheer squads in life.

One thing I could pick up from Jess and Tone was that they love to make each other feel special and always go the extra mile. As Jess and Tone moved towards the dance floor for their first dance a voice played over the speakers "Ladies and Gentlemen, here's a message from Delta Goodrem"... Jess had organised a special message from the one and only Delta, before they danced to her cover of "I Believe In A Thing Called Love". Everyone was so surprised and blown away!!

Tone had a little surprise up her sleeve too! A few months before the wedding day, I received an email from Tone (strategically being sent from her work email) the subject was "a surprise!" I knew this was going to be good! Tone wanted to organise a wedding album for Jess. Together we designed the album, matching the colours to their style and making sure every image was the perfect recap of their day. I am happy to report that the surprise was a total success, and they both loved how it turned out! I had the best day capturing this wedding.

Days like this make me ask myself "how is this my job!?"

Chelsea & Sophie’s Surprise Wedding - Murray’s Brewery - Port Stephens

These words were the very first thing Sophie and Chelsea’s guests saw as they arrived to what they thought was their engagement party.

Sophie and Chelsea planned their surprise wedding from 800km away, without a single friend or family member finding out. Pretty impressive huh?

I just can’t even begin to explain how amazing the reactions were from Sophie and Chelsea’s family and friends. I thought my heart was going to burst. It was such a joy seeing everyone so genuinely ecstatic and emotional at the thought of them finally being able to be legally married.

The most important thing to them on their wedding day (besides allll the wine haha), was spending quality time with their guests celebrating, catching up and dancing the night away. They were happy to just spend 10 mins away together post ceremony to soak it all in and have a few photographs together, then we went straight back to the party

Milly & Mark | The Woodhouse Wollombi Wedding

 

MILLY & MARK’S WEDDING - THE WOODHOUSE - WOLLOMBI

 
 

Mark and Milly's wedding day was unapologetically them. Free of fuss and rigid formalities. The Woodhouse Wollombi was the perfect location, nestled amongst the mountain ranges with zero phone reception. As Milly’s Dad described it, a place in the middle of nowhere with no phone reception is Mark & Milly’s idea of a good time.

We started the day with a forecast of rain. The umbrellas were stacked by the door and the ceremony plan B was being considered but luckily not a drop of rain fell! It was the most spectacular afternoon on the lawn at The Woodhouse, with a huge grazing table, lawn games and the champagne was well and truly flowing!

Highlights of their day were meeting their dog Ted (who I’d heard so much about!) Their ‘un-wedding’ 70's style Toyota Landcruiser wedding car and a ROCK band for their reception. Oh and this hilarious moment during their ceremony that left everyone in stitches, celebrant Mel retelling the story of how they got engaged on the Caribbean Coast of Columbia (just one of 7 countries they have travelled to together).

In Milly’s own words: “We did a huge day hike in Tayrona National Park on the Caribbean Coast of Colombia. It was one week into our 2.5 months in South America. We finally reached the beach, sat down and started making sandwiches, when I looked up and saw two people near the water, embracing each other while a bunch of people were looking on. "HAHA! MARK LOOK, I THINK THESE TWO GOT ENGAGED - I CAN'T THINK OF ANYTHING WORSE THAN THAT HAPPENING IN PUBLIC!"

Mark went quiet. As we were about to leave, his bag fell open, and I offered to pick up the socks. He snapped and said "NO, I'll get it" It was a hot day, I shrugged it off and didn't worry that he was a bit cranky. The next night, while we were alone in our little cabin, he proposed!”

This was such an awesome day, with some of the funniest moments I've ever experienced at a wedding. Enjoy!

Ever seen a wedding at The Hood Milk Bar at The Junction?……me neither


The Hood is one of my favourite places in Newcastle, so naturally when Nerida told me that her and Michael had it picked out for their reception I was sooo keen to see it all jazzed up as a wedding venue!
With their ‘Til Death’ custom neon sign and bold coloured styling and florals, they transformed the space and it looked incredible! I love that it was just Nerida and Michael to a tee.

The threat of torrential rain loomed all day with the rain due to kick in around the time Nerida & Michael’s cermony was scheduled. Luckily it held off just in time to hold the ceremony and do the rounds to greet their guests.

As we set off to Cooks Hill for location shots the rain had well and truly set in. We dashed between terrace houses and shop fronts and despite the rain we had loads of fun and squeezed in some champagne poppin’ before heading back to the reception at The Hood and partying the night away.

When I first met Sherrie and Jarod I knew their Wallalong House wedding was going to be out of this world!
Sherrie and Jarod are the type of people you feel like you’ve known your whole life! You know like those people that have this ability to make you feel like an old friend and part of the family.

Their day was the PERFECT combination of glamour but also so laid back, vintage but yet modern, it was intimate but EPIC!
65 of their closest friends and family gathered around the huge fig trees at Wallalong House.
You could feel the excitement and energy as all of their guests hung onto every word during their ceremony, with smiles from ear to ear (I’m sure it isn’t just from the pre ceremony champagne getting around either!). It was such a joy to see Sherrie and Jarod surround by so much love and adoration from their nearest and dearest.

Tocal Homestead provided the perfect location for their relaxed outdoor ceremony under the gigantic fig trees. The threat of rain had loomed overhead throughout the day, however it held off for their EPIC outdoor dance floor where all of their loved ones danced the night away under the stars and festoon lights.

When I ask my couples what means to most to them about their wedding day, most of them tell me they can’t wait to have all of their loved ones coming together to celebrate and have one big party. Casey and Jake had this dream for their day and they absolutely nailed it.

Melissa and Harry’s coastal Port Stephens wedding at The Anchorage was the perfect mix of style and relaxed vibes.

Melissa is one talented stylist. She has been a part of the Inside Out Magazine’s Search for a stylist this year and had her work featured by Temple & Webster. When she told me she was doing her own styling for the day, I had no doubt that it wouldn’t be amazing.

A piece of fabric ignited Melissa’s vision for their tropical luxe theme and with the help of some amazing florals by Botanica Bird, Melissa and Harry steered clear of current trends and created their own style, unique to them which captured their relaxed nature and also Melissa’s killer styling skills.

It was important to Melissa and Harry that their day be relaxed and their guests could unwind, drink wine and let the good times roll.

So many people tell me they love this wedding.


They love Sophie's Made with Love Bridal dress (it has pockets!), the iconic Newcastle locations, the amazing styling, the doughnut wall and neon sign at their reception. While I love it for all of these things, I love it for so much more than that....
The love and respect that Sophie and Dylan have for each other just radiated from them all day. They weren't fazed in the slightest as it rained while we piled into the limo to head off for photos. They were just so happy to be in the moment together and soak up their first day of being a married couple.

Matthew and Vanessa both work in the travel industry and together they have been to some of the most amazing places throughout the world, but it was the Hunter Valley that stole their hearts for their secret elopement. Circa 1876 and The Convent truly transforms throughout each season of the year. The soft winter light and seasonal colours provided the most glorious backdrop for their day.

It was such a pleasure to capture the honesty, emotion and intimacy of their ceremony with the only witnesses being Matthew's parents (who had travelled from the U.K) and Vanessa's Mum and Step Dad.

To be present at Jodie and Rachelle's wedding ceremony, where these very words held so much significance to them and their community was like nothing else I've ever experienced.
Looking around the room at their guests, most of them with a tear running down their face and hanging off each word, I had never witnessed so many people so emotionally invested and present in a ceremony.
Every single person in that room was beaming with happiness and pride for their dear friends, who had originally planned their wedding day without knowing that their marriage would ever be legally recognised. 

When I asked Rachelle and Jodie to describe to me their day in 3 words, they told me "love, booze and pride" which couldn't have been more accurate.
Following the ceremony all of the guests, including Nanna, slammed down fireball shots.  
It poured with rain all day, but this didn't dampen the spirits of their celebration, with the guests initiating an impromptu limbo contest.

This day was all about celebrating with their family and friends and having one big party. I think the images from their day tell their story much better than I can put into words. This is one I definitely will not forget.

JESS & ANDY’S STONEHURST Cedar Creek Wedding - HUNTER VALLEY

 
 

Jess and Andy's day was the purest reflection of who they are as a couple. Nothing was a 'trend' or something you would find in the latest wedding magazine. Their whole wedding was centred around everyone and everything they love - friends, family, pizza, booze and having a good time!

All of the special people in their lives played an important role in making their day come together. Jess's Aunty was the celebrant and told their story with so much life. Andy's clever Mum made all of the bridesmaid's dresses and the boy's bow ties, and his sister made the incredible cake. A handful of their friends made the flower arrangements and did the hair and makeup. While more of their friends help set up the tables.

Everything was just so uniquely them. Anyone that knows Jess would know she would somehow find a way to include dinosaurs on their wedding day, and she did so in the best way. It was the first time (and probably the last time) I'd ever seen anyone walk down the aisle to the Jurassic Park theme song, and it was actually amazing. Jess had also spent hours before the wedding spray painting small dinosaur figurines to decorate their tables.

There were so many beautiful moments throughout the day. Jess did a 'first look' with her Grandad, which was really sweet, and Andy walked down the aisle with his Mum. After the speeches, some of their family members surprised them with a flashmob to the Spice Girls. Then Jess and Andy blew everyone's minds with a perfectly choreographed swing dance they'd learnt for their 'first dance' (no awkward swaying in sight!).

One of my favourite moments was at the end of the evening. Just as I was just about to clock off for the evening and Jess said to me "hey – do you think you could get a photo of the stars for me?"...

"Sure!" – I started looking around for the Southern Cross because I have no idea about space or stars. But Jess knew exactly what she was looking for. She then told me that her late father had sparked her interest in space when she was younger and taught her all about the different constellations and planets. She led me out the front of the venue and pointed up to a couple of stars that form the 'Scorpios Constellation' (Or 'Maui's Hook' for those with children that have watched Moana). I set my gear up for it to do its thing on a long exposure. After 30 seconds, we checked the back of the camera and were both amazed to see the Milky Way and a million more stars that weren't visible to the naked eye. We were blown away.

What I really love about the image is that it's just a photo of the stars to most people. For Jess, it's so much more. It represents the special memories that she has of her Dad, and it was really beautiful and personal moment to share with Jess.

It felt like I'd known Jess and Andy for a lifetime. I honestly feel like I've walked away with two new friends that I could talk to for hours about anything. There were so many special moments from this day that I'll hold close to my heart forever.

After a zoom call and a few hours on the day, you dialed into who we were personally, and created moments for us to detach from the rush of it all to take in some of the most special moments both individually and as a couple, Our wedding day, as well as the memories of it, would simply be nowhere near as special if you hadn’t been there. MATT & MEL | WALLALONG HOUSE WEDDING

 

MATT & MEL'S WALLALONG HOUSE WEDDING - HUNTER VALLEY

 
 


I feel like I really clicked with Matt and Mel from the get-go. When we first met at their engagement session, we pretty much laughed for an hour and a half.
They shared with me their amazing engagement story — How Mel had just arrived home from the gym thinking they were heading off for a weekend of camping. Matt (who had arrived home earlier, coming straight off night shift), had decorated their bed with flowers and 'Bonfire Heart' by James Blunt (their song) was playing. Matt had laid out a dress for Mel to get changed into, along with a letter he had written describing their future and all the things he hoped they would achieve together. The letter finished with inviting Mel into the kitchen, where she found the room full of balloons and photographs of all the memories from their past that they had already made together. Mel then found one last note that said "Go outside to our present, will you marry me?", where he was waiting for Mel on one knee. 

Matt and Mel chose Wallalong House for their day, as it had a story of its own that they could share with their friends and family. I think I had to pick my jaw up off the ground a few times. Everywhere you looked there were beautiful backgrounds. The breathtaking views across the farmlands provided the perfect backdrop for the ceremony, which was held beneath the 190+ year old fig trees on the property.

Mel loves a good DIY and created the designs for their stationery, she put together the gifts for their guests, and handmade the incredible fur shawls for her bridesmaids (which were later referenced to Game of Thrones by the bridal party).

Matt and Mel truly are a special couple and that was well reflected by the loving atmosphere of their family and friends. Three of the longest tables I have ever seen were filled with their nearest and dearest (Rowlo's Ruckus, Krazy Kota's and M&M's all sorts). They were so appreciative of having so many of their loved ones join them to celebrate.

The whole marquee was in stitches after two of Mel's bridesmaids, Louise and Tess gave speeches about how they had met Mel, and shared some hilarious moments that they had experienced together, including the recount of how Matt and Mel broke the "friend zone".

Mel's Dad started his speech with a line that I won't forget;
"I am Mel's Dad. The happiest Dad."
Both Matt and Mel's Father's gave touching speeches about how proud they were of Matt and Mel, and all they have achieved professionally and together as a couple.

The whole day was just so fun and had this amazing energy, which I am so grateful to have been invited to be a part of. The bridal party and guests were so easy going and welcoming that it made me feel as though I was just one of their mates with a camera.

I often get asked what made me want to get into photographing weddings, and it's families and friends like this that inspire me with their stories and make me love what I do.

Matt and Mel are both so warm and down to earth with this amazing ability to make you feel like an old friend and are simply just all round legends! I cannot wait to see what the future holds for these two incredible humans!

 I had been itching to work with Miss Adams Florist ever since we crossed paths working on a wedding last year. We both share a love for soft, floaty textures and tones, story telling images and elegant unstructured florals in natural surroundings.
Something really magical happens when you get to work alongside creatives that have the same ideas and visions as you! 

Stonehurst Cedar Creek was our pick for the venue (and one of my personal favourites!). It never fails to blow my mind going there. It is incredibly peaceful with breathtaking surrounds and is so, so different in every season. It is truly a hidden gem of a venue.

On the day of the shoot it rained (and rained) for most of the day, but Stonehurst was just as magical as ever, with fog hanging around on the mountain ranges behind, it really set a stunning scene for the day. We were lucky enough to be shown some love from their beautiful horses who came to nibble on the floral arrangements!

4 TIPS FOR AMAZING WEDDING PHOTOS

 

have an engagement shoot

 

I would have to say 90% of my clients tell me they hate having their photo taken or they are nervous about being around the camera. As scary as it may seem, an engagement shoot is the perfect way to loosen up and get comfortable around the camera before your wedding day. 

The way I approach an engagement session with my couples is to create an experience and memory for them.
We generally go on a little bit of an adventure. Sometimes we go to a forest, sometimes we go to sand dunes, sometimes we climb up some cliff face and check out the view and I just happen to bring my camera along. 
This is the perfect opportunity for me to get to know my couples and listen to their stories on how they met, what their plans are, how they got engaged and it really is invaluable to have this experience with my couples and allows them to be comfortable and at ease on their wedding day which = amazing natural photos!

 
 

LIGHTING IS EVERYTHING

 

The direction of light, the type of light (sunny day vs overcast) the amount of light and the time of day you have your photographs can all change how your photographs will look. 
There can be too much light, or not enough light. Finding that sweet spot is what creates stunning wedding photographs!

One of the most important factors to consider when planning your wedding day is NATURAL LIGHT and the time of day you are planning everything.  In order to create beautiful, light images - you need to keep natural light in mind! Once the sun has set, it is impossible to create this look. Within 2 hours from sunset, something magical happens. The sun is low in the sky, the lighting is soft, and you and your partner are going to look amazing walking through that field near your wedding venue. In the middle of the day, the lighting is kinda gross. It's patchy, uneven, harsh and unflattering. Aiming to have your Bridal Portraits within 2 hours of sunset means your photos are going to be dreamy and beautiful!

When choosing a location to have your ceremony, it is good to think about what direction the sun will be facing at the time you are planning your ceremony.  Front lighting from the sun, back lighting (the sun behind you), mixed lighting (half shaded by trees and half sunny in the same frame) will  all change how your photographs will look! If at all possible, try and have your ceremony in the shade if it is a hot sunny day (your guests will thank you too!), or where the lighting is even across where the whole bridal party will be positioned.

Romantic, fun and candid shots take time and can't be rushed. If you are rushed and worried about the time, your 'candid' shots are probably going to look pretty stressed!

There are so many parts of day that require preparation, so its quite easy to go overtime.  You know those 100 guests you invited? That's 100 hugs and kisses and congratulations... each! These shots can be some of the most memorable! Putting a little padding into your timeline for this keeps your plans realistic and running on time.

Family photos are one of the biggest culprits for running overtime. Most generally go a little bit like this...

Ceremony has just finished, you are now married and your family and friends are gathering around for hugs and kisses. Then you move onto family photos (I will always have a family list that my couples have put together before they day, to try and reduce the chaos and to ensure I can get photos of all their nearest and dearest)
So as we start to gather all of the relatives, I call out to Uncle Bob......he was there a minute ago, but no one knows where he is. So someone is out on a man hunt, only to find Uncle Bob already hooking in at the bar. By the time Uncle Bob has made it over for the family shot there is a new search party for Aunty Barb who was also looking for Uncle Bob but is now M.I.A. Catch my drift?

Traveling to multiple photo locations, getting a car park, and getting the bridal party in and out of cars can also take more time than anticipated. Time seems to fly by 3 times as fast on wedding days! 
 

 
 

just relax and enjoy!

 

Wedding days don't always go according to plan, no matter how much you plan.
Sometimes it rains, things run late, things are forgotten. Take the day in your stride and don't get yourself down if it isn't exactly the way you imagined it in your head. The day is about you and your partner and the big love you have for each other!

Relax and don’t think about having your photo taken. Just be yourselfand you will get the best natural results. Go with the flow of the day, soak up the atmosphere and be honest with your emotions, and most importantly have fun!

RACHEL & KHAWAR | PORT STEPHENS WEDDING

 

KHAWAR & RACHEL'S WEDDING - BROUGHTONS AT THE BAY - NELSON BAY

 
 

There needs to be more people in the world like Rachel & Khawar. They are beautiful inside and out, calm, mature, loving and so kind.

Rachel and Khawar's wedding day saw their families come together for the very first time. It was Khawar’s sister and brother-in-law's first trip to Australia, and the first time Khawar had seen them in 5 years! I could tell it meant the absolute world for them to be here for such a special day. 

It was a beautiful and intimate afternoon and evening full of loved ones, running over sand dunes, and dancing the night away. 

 
 
 

Rachel and Khawar chose Broughtons At The Bay for their ceremony and reception. I fell in love with Broughtons as soon as I stepped inside. You have to see it to believe it! Full of natural light, high ceilings, tiffany chairs and white features. It’s a photographers dream!  The room was decorated simply, with rose gold accents and lush greenery. 

Rachel & Khawar involved some of their dearest loved ones to play special parts on the day. Khawar's Mother and Rachel's Mother presented the rings, and their close friends played the part of celebrant, MC and cake creator!

Rachel was gifted a significant red scarf from Khawar’s mother to wear, a traditional colour for Pakistani Brides to wear on their wedding day. 

 
 
 
 

The speeches were such an honest, heartfelt and hilarious window into the lives of Rachel & Khawar. It was easy to see from the tears and cheers, and their guests hanging onto every word that they are adored by everyone around them.
